MAY FAVOURITES 2016

imageWelcome to ausbeautyandskincarereviews first ever monthly favourites. There have been a few standout products for me this month and I’m excited to share them with you.

Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel

I’ll be honest, I have been online shopping and put this item in my cart quite a few times but never managed to check out because of the price.  I just couldn’t justify spending $69AUD on a cream bronzer/base.  But sometimes you have a bad day and sometimes makeup is the only thing to cheer you up. So I had no choice, I bought it and fell in love.

The Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel is essentially a cream bronzer. It can be worn underneath foundation as base or over the top of foundation like you would apply a regular powder bronzer. It’s very easy to apply, I would recommend using a stippling brush to apply onto your cheeks and forehead then blend out for the most beautiful natural, sun-kissed look. It has a smooth gel/cream formula making it perfect for people with mature or dry skin, as it does not exaggerate fine lines, dryness or pores.

I have been so impressed with this bronzer, I’ve used it everyday without fail, and I have barely made a dent, so I can see it lasting a very long time. I love how natural it looks, especially in photos, it comes in a beautiful jar and has the most amazing scent. I would highly recommend.

The Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel is available for purchase at Myer and David Jones for $69AUD.

Rimmel Kate Sculpting Palette in 002 Coral Glow

I am obsessed with gorgeous sculpting palette – it’s a travel friendly, handbag essential, that contains everything you need to pretty up your cheeks! The packaging is really beautiful, especially for a non-expensive beauty product. It has a lovely rose gold trim and the pans are placed on diagonal, making it super easy to sweep your brush through.

My favourite product in palette is the highlighter. I’ve found that in Australia there is not a lot of inexpensive highlighters on the market so I was delighted to see one in a palette and for it to be of such high quality. It’s a lovely subtle, golden highlighter, the perfect day time appropriate highlighter.  I know that at the moment it is on trend to have that very obvious, almost radioactive glow, but it’s not always appropriate to wear a highlighter like that, especially if you have an office job, so for everyday I think this highlight is perfect.

Next is the sculpting contour shade, it is a little to warm for my taste as a contour shade but still works perfectly as a bronzer. It has a slight sheen and is best suited for those with fair skin.

The coral blush is just stunning, matte, pigmented and blends like a dream. All three products work extremely well together, are very long lasting and blend out very easily.

The other great thing about this palette is that $16.95AUD is a very affordable price and such great quality, perfect for beginners. You can buy this palette at Priceline, Chemist Warehouse, Target, Kmart and Big W.

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion

May has been the month of nasty breakouts for me and when I say nasty, I mean these  pimples are signing a 12 month lease, unpacking their bags and moving in all over my face!  My normal acid exfoliation routine just wasn’t cutting it so I had to bring out the big guns. Cue – Mario Badescu Drying Lotion. This product is no joke – it comes in a little bottle with a pink sediment floating at the bottom and a clear liquid on top. It is very important that you DO NOT shake the bottle, the clear liquid and pink sediment need to separated for the product to work it’s magic. If you accidentally do shake it, make sure you stand the bottle up straight and wait for the liquid to separate before applying.

To apply, dip a cotton bud all the way to the bottom of the bottle making sure you pick up the pink sediment and apply a small amount over the pimple, let it dry and go to sleep. When you wake up you will find your pimple is significantly smaller and on the fast route to healing and getting off your face!

The reason you need to apply this at night is because it leaves a lovely, little pink patch over your pimples that needs time to work it’s magic. It cannot be covered up with makeup, so best to keep it as part of your night time routine to avoid people thinking you have the plague.  The key ingredients in the lotion are salicylic acid and calamine which help to clear up pimples fast.  I would highly recommend this for stubborn pimples. You can pick it up at Mecca Maxima for $26AUD. Bargain!

Innoxa Colour Correct Palette

Colour correcting is trending big time at the moment, it is a technique that make up artists have been doing for longest time but only recently introduced to beauty market for the non make-up artist.

I picked up this little gem at the Priceline 40% off sale.  I haven’t tried a lot from the Innoxa line but I am very impressed with the Colour Correct Palette. The palette comes with 4 correcting colours, (apricot, yellow, green and purple) and two concealers (light and dark).  The apricot and yellow shade are used to counteract darkness under the eyes.  The green shade is to correct redness and the purple shade is to correct dull, yellow, sallow skin.

As I mentioned earlier I have had a lot of breakouts and the green shade has really helped neutralise the redness. The stand out for me though was the apricot colour. As I am quite fair, I needed the apricot colour to correct my under eyes. It is absolutely amazing, my dark circles had disappeared and my under eyes were super bright.  You only need the tiniest amount and it just wakes up your entire face.  I’d repurchase this palette for the apricot shade alone.  I really hope that Innoxa releases these correction colours individually. You can buy this palette from Priceline or Myer for $24.95.

Malin + Goetz Lip Moisturiser

image

I am in love with the  Malin + Goetz Lip Moisturiser, it is lip balm on steroids. Ridiculously hydrating and moisturising, not too sticky or heavy, it the perfect heavy duty lip balm. It works very quickly to get of rid of dry and chapped lips. I love wearing this before I go to bed, I wake up to the most amazing hydrated soft lips.  I would recommend this to everyone, you need this in your life!  It is available from Mecca Maxima for $17AUD.
